Epson Printer — Disabling monitoring
Background
Last update date: 22-May-2024.
This article was written on 15-Mar-2024.
I follow a common practice of setting up printer sharing using Windows Server.
However, when we purchase and share Epson printer, user is frequently presented with a pop up screen about needing to purchase inks or any other issues/concerns about the printer.
Of course this is very annoying to users as it may not be their concern.
So, we need to disable this Epson Monitoring thing.
Precautions
There are no precautions at the time of this writing.
Prerequisites
Epson printer shared and installed on user.
Admin account on print server.
Process
First we open the “printing preferences” of that particular Epson printer.
Then go to [Maintenance + Extended Settings]
Disable the Epson Status Monitor
Apparently on Windows 11, the option to disable Epson Status Monitor is disabled/greyed out.
But pressing the “reset defaults” button, allows you to disable it.
Once disabled, then the Epson Status Monitor and Monitoring Preferences will be greyed out.
That’s all folks, happy users are less work for IT support ! :)
